Well, I’m back! I know I know, I’ve been very slack but I promise more content is on the way. And today is Wednesday so let’s get into it. Today’s WCW is Dr. Cecilia Reyes, no special name because….she’s a doctor. That is literally her reasoning. When she was six years old, she watched her father get gunned down. She then dedicated her life to becoming a doctor, specifically a trauma doctor. Soon after becoming a doctor, her mutant powers started to activate which caught the attention of Professor Xavier. He then proceeded to ask her to join the X-men (because of course he did) and she declined and asked that her mutant status remain secret so she could continue being a doctor. Three years later, she was attacked by the Prime-Sentinels while she was working at the hospital. Luckily she was saved by her defensive shield along with the help of Iceman (gotta love the Omega level mutant help).
She first appeared in comics was in 1997 “X-men Vol.2 #65” written by the creators Scott Lobdell and Carlos Pacheco. Her mutant power is a Psioplasmic Bio-Field. Yeah I didn’t know what that was either but that power is one that generates a psioplasmic bio-field, increasing her durability. The field extends six inches from any point on her body. This field constantly surrounds her body at every given moment, completely invisible, and only takes on a glass-like translucency when subconsciously activated by a threat.
So lets celebrate this intelligent black hero for her resilience and drive to help others using her smarts before using her powers. If you have any suggestions on who I should do next, drop names in the comments and you most likely see them in one of the features. Until next time, Nerd out!
