Favorite Antagonist
Hello Blerders and Nerders! Happy Father’s Day to those readers who are fathers! I know I’m late today, but hey its the weekend. Today for the Video Game challenge, it’s about your favorite video game antagonist/bad guy. There are many video game bad guys that I love to hate but I can’t deny that they do their job so well. Below will be a shortlist of some of the antagonists that I love to hate.
Slight spoilers included. The Illusive Man was an asshole. I mean, it really is that simple. He’s not the usual fighting type of villain but he is the mastermind behind a lot of the bad things that happen in Mass Effect, well behind the scenes really. He cared about Human rights and human rights only, meaning he cares not about the other aliens that share the Mass Effect universe. With that kind of sentiment, he does things by any means necessary no matter the cost…whether that cost is another species life or the life of his agents. Everyone is expendable to him as long as it serves the purpose he wants. If you read some of datapads throughout each of the games, you will see what others think of him and his terrible dealings. Best way to describe him? Think Space Racist.
2. Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)
This man was the most annoying villain I ever had to face. He was psychic which means he knew your every move. Literally…he really did. He could read your memory card and therefor figure out your play style. It sucked. I was stuck on him for the a month straight….seriously took up a lot of my time. I would leave my PS1 on (don’t tell my mom!) while I was at school so I could talk to other people who had played or were playing the game to figure out strategies. Nothing worked. Then…thanks to the magical internet, I figured out how. I’m not going to tell you because it’s better to find out yourself and play. But he was everything you would expect a villain to be. Cold, meticulous and made you believe for a second that he was the main villain of MGS1. I may have hated him but deep down…he was lost person…Play MGS V and then MGS1 and tell me what you think.
3. Seymour Guado (Final Fantasy X)
I absolutely hate this man. He was a sneaky bastard. Initially, when you meet Seymour, he’s this great benevolent leader of the Guado. He even is a great ally when fighting Sin. And then it goes left. This man kills his father and turns the world of Spira against our heroes with no remorse. He doesn’t feel bad at all about what he has done. Everything he does is calculated and evil. His aeon Anima is a [expletive deleted] to fight as well. I wanted to like him but he took that and threw it away. Each time I have a play through of FFX, I make sure to get strong enough to absolutely punish Seymour.
I have a lot more bad guys to hate, like pretty much anyone else in the MGS series but I wanted to keep this list short. What about you? Are there any particular antagonists that you hate? Let me know in the comments! If you are interested in any of the games I spoke about, click the names and you will be taken to an Amazon page! Until next time, Nerd out!
